Sue Moen is an independent small business & non-profit consultant with a long record of service in a wide variety of community and social justice issues. She has been particularly active in the arts, food security and health communities.
Sue Moen's previous experience includes being the Chief Executive Officer of LUSH Valley Food Action Society; Consulting Administrator for the Comox Valley Community Arts Council; and nine years with A Loving Spoonful, a Vancouver HIV/AIDS community-based organization, as the Program Director and then as Executive Director. She came from seven years as a care-team volunteer in the AIDS community and two years managing an HIV Drop In for street-involved transgender clients. She was a leader in the Food Provider community in Vancouver; was a member of the regional Food Advisory Committee and the Vancouver Food Policy Council and sat on the Board of Directors of the Association of Nutrition Services Agencies.
Prior to paid employment in the non-profit sector, Moen worked and studied at the Vancouver Film School. Other job experience includes management in a financial institution, special event production, retail bookkeeping and small business owner. Her volunteer commitments have included the environment, HIV/AIDS, Special Olympics, child and youth sports, social justice, education and food security projects and agencies.
A graduate of the Leadership Vancouver Program, Sue Moen is an active practitioner of lifelong learning. From her home in Black Creek on Vancouver Island, she strives to reduce her household carbon footprint and to maintain a lifestyle consistent with sustainability. She has lived in the Comox Valley since 2006.
